Number of characters in this sub-list: 37 (out of a total of 30,256 in the database).
A number of characters have been resurrected. They have literally been portrayed as having been dead and then brought back from the dead, usually through occult means. (These resurrections do not include the countless instances of characters who were simply thought mistakenly to have died, but were later revealed to have escaped death.) One would think that being dead and then resurrected would have a significant impact on a character's beliefs, including their beliefs about the afterlife, immortal spirits, and other topics often considered "religious." But it is not always clear that this is the case. Many resurrected characters are villains and after coming back from the dead they often seem no less villainous than before. There is often no indication of any introspection or change in personality on the part of the character. Nevertheless, the fact that these characters were resurrected must be regarded as notable from a religious perspective, particularly if we have no other information about their religious affiliation or beliefs.
This is in no way an attempt to exhaustively catalog all characters who have been resurrected. Such a list could grow extremely lengthy if one considered all characters and all stories, and such a listing would inevitably entail complicated subjective decisions regarding whether characters actually dead or were only on the brink of death, whether they were brought back via supernatural versus scientific means, etc. This is principally a listing of characters who were genuinely resurrected and for whom we have no other religious classification.
