Samson Scythe, also known as "Deathwatcher", hired mercenaries to kill innocent people in front of his cameras so that he could watch. He had no particular grevance with these victims. He was simply indulging a bizarre death fetish and was stimulated by watching people die. Captain America confronted Scythe's schemes and confronted him, which resulted in Scythe getting trapped in a fire. Bizarrely, Scythe was blissed at the sight of his own death.
