Mark Scarlotti is better known as the super-villain "Blacklash." He has also used the code name "Whiplash."
We do not believe that Mark Scarlotti's official codename has ever been "Backlash" (with only one "L"), but we have seen his codename spelled this way in some commentary and archival accounts. This is probably just a transcription error, however, and not a reflection of how the name was actually spelled in a published comic.
