Centuries ago, Stonians led by Gorgolla came from space to invade the Earth. They attached themselves as gargoyles to buildings, remaining like motionless statues waiting for the right time to conquer Earth. From a base in Tibet, Gorgolla planned to conquer the world with his army of fellow Stonians. However, the other Stonians gave up plans for world conquest. The other Stonians seemily killed Gorgolla by tearing him to pieces because he wouldn't give up this plan. But in actuality, Gorgolla was taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D. and became part of its Howling Commandos Monster Force.
