Barbara Ketch is the sister of Johnny Blaze and Daniel Ketch, both of whom have been known as Ghost Rider by virtue of being hosts for the "Spirit of Vengeance."

Ghost Rider's arch-enemy, the demon Blackheart, eventually murdered Barbara Ketch as an act of vengeance against his enemy.

The form of Barbara Ketch was briefly revived and possessed by the villain Scarecrow.

A non-continuity story in What If? #45 depicts Barbara Ketch herself being merged with the Spirit of Vengeance and becoming Ghost Rider. She becomes increasingly violent and murderous in this role, an eventually Doctor Strange separates her from the Spirit.

What If? #95 depicts Barbara Ketch's learning about the Ghost Ride and Dan Ketch's secret, only to be killed by Dan. Barbara's ghost later warns Johnny Blaze about Ghost Rider.
