Julius Malone, an accountant who had worked for the Bazin crime family, turned states evidence and was the star witness in the cases against mob boss Philippe Bazin. The mobster sent four assassins from the 1400 Club to kill Malone. Darkhawk protected Malone and routed the assassins, but Malone then died of a heart attack.
