Khafre was a pharaoh who ruled over Egypt in approximately 2500 B.C. He was involved in the construction of the famous Sphinx statue.
Khafre desired immortality and his beliefs told him that there were paths to achieve this desire. He set up a spell to transfer his spirit into the massive Sphinx staute using the Claw of Bast, a powerful mystical item. (Bast was one of the most important gods in the Egyptian pantheon.) Khafre's spirit was banished to a nether realm by the Claw of Bast during a mystical astronomical event known as a syzygy.
