Note: Kitty Pryde mistook him for Colossus
Danny Wycenko was a fairly regular guy, a Chicago police officer. A strange thing happened to him when the mutant superheroine Kitty Pryde (a.k.a. Shadowcat) mistook him for her deceased boyfriend, the Russian super-hero Colossus. (At this time, Colossus was still believed to have died from the Legacy Virus.)
When Kitty Pryde saw Danny Wycenko on a Chicago street, she was still mourning the loss of Colossus. She honestly thought that Danny Wycenko might be Colossus. She finally confronted Wycenko, only to learn for certain that this man was simply a stranger who resembled Colossus.
Kitty found that although Danny Wycenko was not her beloved Colossus, he was a nice man. Wycenko asked Kitty to tell him about Colossus.
Danny has a half-Polish, half-Russian family background, which might explain why he bore some resemblance to Colossus.
