Note: claimed ring was "magic" to be with world's magic believers

On Avir's native world of Rhoon, followers of magic and followers of science battled for control. In order to dwell with the magic believers of his world, Avir claimed her Green Lantern ring was "magic," although it was ostensibly powered by the Guardians' "super science."

In recent decades, the practitioners of magic had been largely defeated by the science-believers. The magic believers had been relegated to a single island. The fact that Avir allowed her ring to be regarded as "magic" in order to stay with now-marginalized magic practitioners suggests that she regarded herself as one of the magic followers.
