There is no particular indication that the monstrous and dangerous alien creatures known as "Golgotha" are themselves noticeably religious. Throughout much of the story, it is not even clear that they are sentient. But their name is certainly of interest in religious studies, as it is the hill near Jerusalem where Jesus Christ was crucified. The story arc featuring these alien creatures even features a visit to this historic site in Israel.
The X-Men first encountered the Golgotha alien creatures when they investigated why everybody in an Antarctic mutant Utopia refuge had died. The alien creatures, which apparently release potent spores or chemicals or something, had driven everybody there violently insane.
At the end of the story arc, the X-Men repel an invasion of 162 Golgotha aliens, coming from space toward Earth. Presumably this invasion means that the Golgotha are willful and sentient, and not simply "alien animals" or spoor-producing biological meteorites.
