Gloria's father was the Reverend Joshua Grimly, pastor of the Chicago-based Church of the Living God. Presumably Gloria was raised in the same faith that her father led, but the extent to which she was connected to this religious group as an adult is something that would need to be further researched.

Also, it should be noticed that Gloria's father was the latest in a long line of Yoruba religious leaders known by the title "Destroyer of Demons." Rev. Joshua Grimly was clearly heavily influenced by this background. The extent to which Rev. Grimly's teaching at his Chicago church can truly be classified as normative Protestantism is something that would also need to be examined more thoroughly.
