Panel 5 of page 2 in the story "The Joker's Comedy Capers" in Detective Comics #341 (July 1965) invokes the name of Leonardo da Vinci in a description of the villainous Joker. The narrative caption reads: "Something devilishly familiar about this 'movie producer'?! No doubt some of you will already have suspected the presence of that mad maestro of mirth, that Leonardo of the larcenous laugh, that man of a thousand false fronts -- the Joker!"
