Zealot led a rebellion against Magneto's rule of Genosha. Zealot believed that as the Genegineer's son and as a native of Genosha, he had the right to rule Genosha. He violently opposed the rule of Magneto, who he regarded as a "foreigner" and interloper. Zealot even went so far as to kidnap Magneto's son Quicksilver and threaten him with death. Ultimately Magneto defeated Zealot and banished him to space. Magneto did this so that Zealot would no longer have access to the source of his power: contact his native Genoshan soil.
