Captain Benson was a police captain who recruited physician Dr. Jack Castle to help investigate the mysterious disappearance of eighty homeless people. Castle investigated this crime, which was being perpetuated by an unnamed mad scientist known as "the master' (dubbed "Zombie Master" by some archivists). This investigation led to Castle being inadvertently empowered by the "Zombie Master," prompting him to become the costumed super-hero known as the "Fiery Mask."
