Zius was the leader of the group known as the "Survivors." These were members of various alien races whose plants had been destroyed by Galactus. Obviously they hated Galactus.
The Survivors developed a technology that would render entire worlds invisible to Galactus. They were concerned, however, about the Invisible Woman, who has the power to cause invisible things to become visible. The Survivors thought Galactus might use Invisible Woman's power to counter their technology. Zius led the Survivors in a plot to kill the Invisible Woman. This ended after her husband, Reed Richards, tricked Zius into believing that her powers had been neutralized.
