Here is something interesting to think about: In Action Comics #10 the villain of the story was named "Superintendent Wyman." He was the evil and corrupt warden of a prison. He cruelly mistreated the prisoners in his charge. In the story "Superman and the Runaway" in Superman #3 the villain of the story is "Superintendent Lyman," an evil and corrupt superintendent of a state orphanage who cruelly mistreated his charges. Consider the similarity between the behavior and official state-sanctioned position of these two characters along with their almost identical names. There is only one letter difference between "Superintendent Wyman" and "Superintendent Lyman." These similarities can't simply be a coincidence. It is reasonable to assume that Siegel intentionally named Lyman after Wyman, or that he modeled both characters after a specific real-life person.
