John was the head of Globe Construction Co., a construction firm that was fronting for somebody else in a scam involving low-quality building materials and graft paid to the corrupt mayor. Clark Kent found John murdered in his office. He investigated the murder, beginning with interviewing John's wife. The wife of the murder victim was never referred to by name and John's last name was never given in this story, so this woman can only be identified as John's wife.
