Brad Gutman was the mortician for the super-hero team X-Statix. Brad and his wife Brenda had a young daughter named Britney. Brad was a necrophiliac and was obsessed with dead people. Britney was aware of this, and it had an adverse effect on her. She dressed as a dead person and wore pale death-like makeup. Britney's mother Brenda was angry at Brad for the way his obsession was affecting their daughter. She tried to confront her husband about it and demonstrate how disgusting he was.

The conflict in her home drove Britney to take extreme action. She took a loaded gun to school, intent on going on a shooting spree.

The super-heroine Dead Girl tried to talk Britney out of doing anything rash, but the confused teenager was shot dead by police when she aimed her gun at a crowd of people surrounding her shoool.
