In panel 1 on page 3 of the story "The Case of the Prophetic Pictures!" in Detective Comics #42 (Aug. 1940), Bruce Wayne overhears an argument the artist Antal is having with a man who suspects him of flirting with his wife. Bruce Wayne hears Antal say, "But, Mr. Ryder, you are mistaken! You..."
The man Antal is arguing with interrupts, saying, "You heard me! Stay away from my wife! This is the last time I'll tell you!"
Bruce Wayne thinks to himself, "Hm! Antal seems to be quite the Casanova!"
In the next panel (panel 2 on page 3), Bruce Wayne sees the wealthy gentleman Antal was arguing with walk away from Antal. Bruce Wayne thinks to himself, "Looks like Antal has made an enemy in the socially eminent Mr. Drake! That man has a quick temper!"
"Mr. Ryder" and "Mr. Drake" refer to the same man. Antal, who is quite new to the Gotham social circle, probably mistakenly called Mr. Drake the wrong name. Perhaps "Ryder" is the name of another woman Antal had flirted with. Or perhaps this is simply an editing error.
In any case, it is clear from the story that only one man is being referred to here. Later, in panel 2 on page 7, Antal is answering Commissioner Gordon's question about whether he has any enemies who might want to harm him. Antal answers, "Mikoff, the artist, because his sister committed suicide over me! Or, perhaps it is Drake! He is a jealous man! His wife, you know!"
