Geraldine Doyle was a real American woman who was depicted on the famous World War II-era "We Can Do It!" poster.
The "We Can Do It!" poster was commissioned by the Westinghouse Company's War Production Coordinating Committee. The poster was created with the intent to recruit women into the workforce during wartime, when a large proportion of men were serving in the military. The poster was created by artist J. Howard Miller. At the time of its creation, the name "Rosie" or "Rosie the Riveter" was not associated with the poster.
