Amos Lardner was an old CIA buddy of Marc Spector (secretly the superhero Moon Knight). Amos committed suicide after he was experimented on by Operation: Cobra. Moon Knight investigated his old friend's death, which led him to a shadowy organization known as the Company and to Amos's brother James, a mutated villain known as Cobra.
