Note: sought Ka-Zar's aid when mine owner tried to enslave locals
Barrie Richards inherited a gold mine. He refused to use the local African natives as slave laborers to work the mine. The villainous Lester Drake (who apparently had some financial connection to the mine) saw that he would lose money because of the new mine owner's ethical stance. Drake killed Barrie Richards.
Richards was a minor character who appeared in only one story. But he was admirable in the unwavering stance he took to refuse to treat people as slaves simply to further enrich himself. Ultimately, Richards died for standing up for his admirable beliefs, but his character and actions will doubtless be richly rewarded in the hereafter.
The chief of the local African natives brought in Ka-Zar the Great (David Rand) to deal with the problem of Lester Drake, who died at the end of the story.
