The exact nature of the character known as "Jade" is not entirely clear. Jade represented "the soul and potential for goodness on Earth." She certainly has some super-human powers. She may be a magic user. Alternatively, she may be a cosmic entity.

Jade was apparently possessed by the Firebird. Alternatively, she may have been imbued with the power of the Firebird. Or perhaps it is most accurate to say that Jade and the Firebird are in the same, or that Jade is a manifestation of the Firebird.

Jade's soul, which represents the soul of humanity, was stolen by the villainous Dhasha Khan. Jade's soul was retrived by the heroic Iron Fist.
