Dr. Anrold Krank worked in bioengineering at Krashner's Bio-Systems Inc. While working there, Dr. Krank discovered the "secret of life." With this knowledge, he inadvertently created the monstrous humanoid artificial life form Braggadoom. The creature went out of control, grew immensely, and rampaged. Dr. Krank enlisted the help of the Thing and Power Man (Luke Cage) to defeat it.
The Thing and Power Man caused the Braggadoom to expend all its energy and revert from the immense size it grew to back to the size of an infant. Dr. Krank took Braggadoom home to raise as his own child.
