The Chosen Eight of Fate were empowered by the Alpha and Omega stones to maintain peace between inhabited worlds in the galaxy. They were evolved to a higher level and granted great powers in order to do so.
The "Chosen Eight of Fate" were also known as the "Guardians of the Galaxy," but should not be confused with the future space-faring super-heroic team that goes by that name.
Thousands of years ago the "Chosen Eight of Fate" (i.e., the original "Guardians of the Galaxy") originated the Guardian Protocols.
