In the story titled "Granite Hill" (published in Richie Rich #18), Richie Rich used his immense fortune to hire the renowned sculptor Emil Chizul to carve a statue of Richie's girlfriend Gloria Glad. Richie Rich's intent was that this be a truly glorious gift for his close friend Gloria. Unfortunately, through comical misundersandings, Mr. Chizul ended up carving a statue of another girl!

A character named "Cousin Emil" was featured in the 1-page story known as "While we're away in Europe...", which was published about one year earlier in March 1962. ComicVine.com identifies both Emils as the same character. We have no reason to dispute this. If Emil Chizul and "Cousin Emil" are indeed the same person, then Mr. Chizul is presumably related to Richie Rich, perhaps as a direct cousin or possibly as the cousin of one of Richie's parents, who are also featured in the character's presumptive first appearance.
