Mrs. Katz was an elderly Jewish woman who lived on Yancy Street, a rough neighborhood in New York City. Ben Grimm (a.k.a. the Thing) Grew up there as well, and Mrs. Katz apparently new Grimm from when he was young.
Mrs. Katz asked Ben Grimm to talk her "her boy" (apparently her adult son) about the bad crowd he was hanging out with. She told Grimm: "--appreciate you talking to my boy, Benny. Lord knows I've tried to, but this crowd he's running with... it's no good."
Ben Grimm replied: "No problem, Mrs. Katz. Growing up here on Yancy Street, I know from bad influences, lemme tell you."
We saw one source identify this character's name as "Benny Katz." We believe this is a mistake and that "Benny" is what Mrs. Katz was calling Benjamin Grimm, a.k.a. the Thing. Mrs. Katz's son's first name was apparently never revealed.
