Barbara was the wife of Scotty, a guard who worked at Riker's Island Prison. Barbara had a terminal illness, but her husband had a plan. He was nice to inmate Norman Osborn, a brilliant scientist and biochemist. Scotty befriended Osborn and asked for his help to cure Barabara. The cure worked briefly, but then Barbara died a quick, painful death.
In her first appearance - in Marvel Knights Spider-Man #6, Barbara's name was never mentioned. Her name was revealed when she was mentioned in Marvel Knights Spider-Man #10.
