When the Oktid race first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #368 (May 1999), they were not yet named. They appeared simply as strange, other-dimensional beings. The name of their race was given in the next issue: Uncanny X-Men #369.

The best known member of the Oktid race is Ejulp, who encountered the X-Men.

The Oktids are tall and thin. They have green skin. Apparently only some of them (including Ejulp) have dimension-warping powers.

The Oktids live in a dimension known as the Trion dimension. They worship the Trion, which is a trio of manifestations of the forces that comprise their dimension. In a sense, their triune deity and their dimension are one.

The Trion is not simply an abstract concept. The Trion has really manifest itself in physical form. The X-Men, for example, encountered the Trion.

Note that "Oktid" is "Ditko" spelled backwards. Also, Ejulp's name is "Ditko" with each letter shifted one letter forward in the alphabet. The entire Oktid race is something of an homage to the classic other-dimensional art of Steve Ditko, such as he displayed in early Doctor Strange comics he illustrated.
