The Kyrii are demonic creatures who lived in (or could who could be summoned to) the other-dimensional realm Kaichek. One of the Kyrii was summoned by court wizard Vung in order to frame his enemies, the Wizard Kings. The treacherous Vung had the Kyrii attack his former employer, Shialmar, in order to trick the warrior Kan into leading an attack on the Wizard Kings. Vung's use of the Kyrii was ultimately simply a ruse on his part in order to manipulate Kan and gain the man's sympathies. After saving Shialmar from the Kyrii, Kan agrred to lead the armies of Queen Shialmar. During this time, Shialmar and Kan fell in love.

The Kyrii were indeed fearsome demon creatures, but there is no reason to believe they had any actual enmity toward Shialmar the Shadowqueen.
