Daniels worked in the same NYPD precinct that Captain America worked in for a time, in his secret identity (Steve Rogers).
Like most cops who worked there, Daniels admired Sgt. Brian Muldoon, and had a hard time believing what Muldoon was accused of when he was suspended from the force.
In Captain America (vol. 1) #153, Steve Rogers patrol partner Bob Courtney enters the precinct station, only to be told by the desk sergeant ("Sarge", who is NOT Muldoon), that Rogers called in sick. While Bob Courtney ponders his suspicions about Steve Rogers strange behavior of late (sneaking away to be Captain America, a role Courtney knows nothing about), Courtney overhears Daniels talk to Sarge about Sgt. Muldoon.
Sarge says: "This makes the sixth day Rogers has missed since he joined up. He'd be in for a good talking-to, if Muldoon were here-- --but Muldoon isn't here. Up on charges. Doesn't seem possible."
Officer Daniels, speaking with Sarge, muses: "Personally, Sarge, I think he was framed."
Sarge agrees, saying, "Personally, Daniels, I think you're right. Muldoon's a darn good cop!"
