Ajax was a guard who worked at the Raft, the maximum-security facility off the coast of New York City where dozens of super-villains were incarcerated.
The super-hero known as Speedball (Robbie Baldwin) was incarcerated at the Raft due to his involvement in the tragedy in Stamford, Connecticut when Robbie and his fellow New Warriors tried to apprehend some super-villains, only to have one of them (Nitro) blow up and kill nearly 200 civilians.
Ajax was present when Baldwin took out a number of escaping prisoners.
