Kingpin was a horse that Captain America rode (wearing civilian attire) on his date with Carol Harding, the daughter of the scientist who created the Mad Bombs which threatened America.
Kingpin's name is identified in panel 5 on page 11 in Captain America (vol. 1) #198. Steve meets Carol on the beach (as arranged the night before), surprising her by showing up on horseback. Carol Harding accepts Steve's invitation to ride on the horse with him, saying: "Thank you, Steve. I accept you as a friend-- and a charming mystery."
Steve takes Carol's hand and says: "Good! You've just earned your free ride on 'Kingpin!'"
In panel 6, Steve explains: "He's the finest horse at the local riding academy. What's more, he's known to be gentle with those who appreciate him."
Steve and Carol ride Kingpin on the beach for a while. Kingpin is later seen in the background on page 15 when Steve and Carol dismount and talk to each other on the beach.
The horse named Kingpin should not be confused with the New York City-based crimelord Wilson Fisk.
