Pete was a reporter working in New York City. At an appearance of the Avengers, he watched as they were turned to stone. He dismissed this event as a trick, thinking they simply left stone statues in their place in order to avoid being interviewed. What Pete did not realize was that the Avengers had actually been turned to stone an alien named Vuk (one of the D'Bari).
