Smasher's career as a super-villain was rather short-lived. After being introduced in Daredevil (vol. 1) #138, he died in issue this story continued into: Ghost Rider (vol. 2) #20.

Later, in Daredevil (vol. 1) #149, another Smasher (a successor to the first) appeared.

Both Smashers were pawns of Death-Stalker (Phillip Wallace Sterling).
