Sean Farrell was the husband of Maggie Farrell, the daughter of the old blind man Matt Murdock saved in the incident that blinded him, gave him super powers, and led ultimately to him becoming Daredevil.
When he was a younger man, Sean Farrell had been badly beaten by Jack Murdock, the father of Matt Murdock.
Maggie had been molested by her father, the old blind man Daredevil saved. As an adult, she went crazy. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She thought that Sean was having an affair and she killed him. She became the serial killer known as "Johnny Sockets."
When "Johnny Sockets" first began killing New Yorkers and taking their eyes, Matt Murdock/Daredevil originally suspected Sean Farrell was the perpetrator. At that time, Sean's wife Maggie was a client at Matt Murdock's law firm. She claimed she thought that an electric company had caused her to get cancer.
