Marvin the Tooth was one of the many thugs who worked for the Kingpin. When the Kingpin's ally Jeremiah Jenk was in a conflict with his brother, Elder Nahum Jenk, the Kingpin sent Max the Tooth and some other men to guard Jeremiah's home.
Daredevil (not yet aware of Elder Nahum's questionable nature) arrived at Jeremiah's home, intent on talking to him. Daredevil easily beat Max and the other thugs down so he could get to Jeremiah.
