M'Lee was a woman who was a member of the KinGorge tribe. These were descendants of British explorers who became lost in a remote area of Africa for over 200 years. Their society had become extremely savage.
After the KinGorge tribe was discovered by anthropologist Horatio Piper, many of them came to New York City with him. The tribal leader, Micah Synn, ended up becoming quite a villain and an opponent of Daredevil, but he charmed many, including Debbie Harris Nelson, the wife of Daredevil's law partner Foggy Nelson.
Debbie willingly went with Micah Synn, admiring his manly qualities, but once under his control, his true nature became more apparent to her, as he treated her brutally.
Debbie was forced to do menial labor and was treated like a slave. She had nobody to talk to, and ended up pouring out her heart to a KinGorge woman, M'Lee. After quietly listing to all Debbie had to say, M'Lee simply poured water over her head and laughed at her.
M'Lee may have been little more than a servant or slave herself, essentially property of tribal chief Micah Synn. But for her, this was the life she was raised in and the only life she knew. She was clearly content with this life, and she thought little of Debbie's complaints.
