One of the most important sacred objects utilized by the Snakeroot sect is the sword of power known as "Sakki." The sword was forged in 934 A.D. by a monk named Tomonori, who found a way to entrap humanity's brutal nature within the sword.
Tomonori was a deeply religious man legendary for his great compassion as well as for his skill with fire and steel. He forged Sakki in order to lock this human brutality away from people. But the fury locked within Sakki gave it a semi-sentient nature. The fury of humanity which was locked within the sword growled and shrieked and cried out for the life force of innocents.
Snakeroot obtained the sword and released its evil nature. The Snakeroot followers found a way to feed the hunger within the sword. They made Sakki into their frightening icon.
Eventually, the dread sword Sakki served as the connection between the Snakeroot clan and the demon-lord they worshipped (known only as "the Beast").
The sword Sakki has appeared in many of the stories which also featured Snakeroot. The sword first appeared in Daredevil #319. It was not identified by name until Elektra: Root of Evil #1.
