As shown in Power of Prime #2 (with additional information provided in the two issues that followed), the Prime race (known as "The Prime") were beings who lived on Godwheel. They merged science with sorcery in order to create god-like forms for themselves. They did this in order to pay homage to the gods who had vanished in the aftermath of a cataclysmic war. With their new godlike forms, these alien beings regarded themselves one race (the Prime race), although they were not necessarily all of the same biological origin. They were bound together by their religious beliefs (not by biology) and by their practice of inhabiting the "Prime" forms. Thus, the "Prime race" was an artificial/cultural/religious construct.
