Dr. Winston Redditch made two formulas, one that could amplify the good in people, and one that could amplify the evil. Buck Cowan and Jack Russell heard about Redditch's work and thought that his research might be used as a cure for Jack Russell's lycanthropy.
When Dr. Redditch was in the hospital (due to a battle with Russell's "Werewolf" side), Buck Cowan went to his home and obtained his "good" formula.
