We don't know what this SHIELD agent's problem was, but he was an extreme jerk.

In the opening pages of Captain America (vol. 1) #231, Captain America is still in an underground complex under Alcatraz island where he battled agents of the evil organization known as "the Corporation." SHIELD agents are there, helping with the clean-up operation, taking Corporation operatives into custody, etc. On page 3, Captain America sees a SHIELD agent threatening Denise Baranger, the SHIELD super-agent known as "Vamp" who had turned into the Corporation agent known as "Animus." She has reverted to human form and her mind has nearly been blanked out. She is harmless at this point, and Captain America objects to how this SHIELD agent is treating the prisoner he has in his custody.

The SHIELD agent yells at the cowering Baranger, saying: "Come on, Vamp or Tramp... or whatever you call yourself! I said get up! If you think I'm gonna take it easy on you, lady, you're sadly mistaken! You're nothing but a lousy, rotten traitor! I oughtta... huh?"

This SHIELD agent is surprised to see Captain America grabbing his high-tech SHIELD-issued rifle out of his hands. Captain America breaks the weapon in two and tells him: "What you 'oughtta' do, Mister, is calm down. The fighting's over for today. Whatever her crimes, the Vamp deserves your pity, not abuse."

The SHIELD agent, now angry at Captain America, fires back angrily, telling Cap: "What hse neds is a firing squad! Now either you mind your own business or else--!"

Captain America asks: "Or else what? You'll stop me? I doubt it."

This SHIELD agent, enraged, throws a punch at Captain America, saying: "Why, you self-righteous-- OWW!"

Captain America easily blocks the punch with his shield and offers the agent this advice: "Never lead with your left, Sonny.... Use it to set up your right. Don't they teach that in Fury's spy-school any more?"

The rude SHIELD agent holds his hand in pain. Other SHIELD agents threaten Captain America, and he asks them to remember that they are all on the same side.
