Sylvia Coates was the daughter of an American missionary working in Japan. Japanese Imperial forces killed the missionary who was her parent, so she dedicated her life to thwarting the Japanese forces.

Sylvia Coats worked with General Hawkins, a high-ranking American officer stationed in the Pacific arena during World War II. When Judomaster needed extraction after infiltrating the Japanese forces to gain crucial intelligence, General Hawkins sent Sylvia Coates in a junk boat to retrieve him.
