Brian Kornfield gained incredible super powers when he was mutated by the dark magical tome Darkhold.

Kornfield's mother was brutally assaulted by a mugger. He wanted nothing more than to bring that mugger to justice. To that end, he used his dark magical power to transform into the monstrous being known as "Spider-X," a deadly vigilante.

The violent ways of "Spider-X" brought him into conflict with Spider-Man and the Midnight Sons. Spider-X fought these heroes, and was destroyed in the battle
