"Wing" Walker was a legitimate pilot who was disgraced through the machinations of a villainous group known as the Sons of the Red Cormorant. The Sons then forced him, at gunpoint to fly a mission for them. While flying the plane for the Sons, an enemy of the Sons known as "The Nipper" attacked, strafing the Sons' plane with machine gun fire. The nipper's machine guns destroyed the wings of the plane Wing was flying. In order to escape both the Nipper and the Sons, Wing faked a crash landing and, in doing so, scattered a tribe of Indians. He then met and assisted a woman who had been held captive by the Indians.
