Los Angeles-based criminal attorney Jennifer "Jen" Walters was defending a hood named Lou Monkton, who had been falsely accused of murdering a bodyguard working for gangster Nick Trask. Walters planted a rumor that she had secret evidence against the real murderer - Trask himself. Task sent thugs to kill Walters. Two of Trask's men shot her in front of her own home. Walters' cousin Bruce Banner held the thugs off and they fled, but Walters was gravely injured.

Banner knew Walters needed immediate medical attention, lest she die. He looked around and saw a doctor's shingle in front of the home across the street from Jennifer's house. He broke into the doctor's home and used medical equipment he found there to give his cousin a blood transfusion, using his own blood.

Once Jennifer Walters was stabilized, Banner called the operator from the doctor's home and arranged for an ambulance to take her to a hospital.

The frantic Banner's words after the thugs drove off were: "She's dying! Lost too much blood! Only a fast transfusion can save her! But I need help-- need equipment! Can't wait for an ambulance! A doctor! There must be a doctor nearby! ...Across the street-- a doctor's shingle! No answer! Not a sound inside! There's-- nobody home! But I can't fail her now! I can't!"

(Banner then broke into the doctor's home and administered the transfusion himself.)

Note that the doctor who treated Jennifer Walters (off-panel) at the hospital in The Savage She-Hulk #1 is NOT the same doctor who lived across the street from her, and whose home and equipment Bruce Banner used to give her an emergency blood transfusion. These doctors, neither of whom was identified by name in this issue, were two different people.
