Dr. Powell led a team of researchers and scientists from the City Museum of New York on an expedition into the Arctic Circle where they found the Frankenstein's Monster android which may have been the inspiration for Mary Shelly's gothic novel. The team brought the Monster back to the museum in New York City.
Despite warnings from his colleagues and from government officials, the over-eager Dr. Powell warmed the long-frozen monster up, thus waking it up. It attacked him and the other scientists and began going on a rampage, which the X-Men were eventually able to put a stop to.
