During a time that the X-Men were disbanded (at the request of the FBI), the team members tried out new careers. Scott Summers briefly worked as a radio personality. A radio engineer (whose name was never revealed) was seen working with Scott in X-Men (vol. 1) #48.

As fate would have it, the villainous Computo sent his army of robot warriors, the Cybertrons, to steal a powerful radio transmitter from the very radio station that Scott Summers and this unnamed radio engineer were working at.
