From: Media, Culture and Politics in Indonesia, by Krishna Sen and David T. Hill (2000):

In 1992 EMK published a single series of the local comic-strip Panji Koming (likened by one commentator to the French comic Asterix, also popular in Indonesia), serialised in Kompas. In 1996 EMK launched a Panji Tengkorak series (baed on a traditional Javanese tale and title of a television series sceening that year). Independently of the major publishers, in the mid 1990s a group of Bandung art students launched a monthly 24-page black-and-white comic Kapten Bandung, as an Indonesian superher. None has achieved success comparable to the translated comics.
