Joy Adams was working as a guide in Venezuela when she was kidnapped by Jigsaw and the Rev. It was at this time that she first encountered the vigilante known as the Punisher (Frank Castle). The Punisher was an enemy of the Rev and Jigsaw.
The Punisher later connected to Joy Adams again when he tried to protect her husband from animal rights activists. Joy Adams' husband worked as a meat packer and the activists hated him for it. Things got complicated when it turned out that Joy Adams' husband was a crazy crack addict.
